Mountain Home is a community of about 12,000 people. Located in Elmore County, we enjoy a wealth of recreational opportunities for outdoor enthusiasts of all ages. Just south of Mountain Home at Bruneau Dunes State Park, stands this continent’s tallest sand dunes, rising over 470 feet above the desert floor. Climb the dunes, visit the Interpretive Center, and stay after dusk on the weekends to gaze at the heavens at the Bruneau Dunes Observatory. Visit our 18 hole golf course, a local winery, movie theater, parks, and quaint downtown.
Our largest employer is the Mountain Home Air Force Base, situated ten minutes southwest of town. Mountain Home has one high school, junior high, middle school, and three elementary schools. Many of our graduates have gone on to attend some of the country's leading universities and military academies.
Idaho is a fantastic place to live! While Mountain Home is not exactly nestled in the mountains as our name implies,we are less than an hour away from the Boise National Forest, lakes, rivers and streams. The outdoors here provide access to skiing, hiking, fishing, hunting, whitewater rafting, boating and family camping opportunities.
Boise, Capitol of Idaho, is just 35 minutes northwest of Mountain Home. With a population of 200,000+ people. It is headquarters to several Fortune 500 companies. It is our cultural, shopping & entertainment oasis. Boise is the proud home of Boise State University, and the Boise Broncos.
The market is back to normal, and several new subdivisions are being developed. Homes are currently selling from $80,000 to $200,000+. Rent ranges from $650-$1000 for 3 bedroom homes.
